A ‘shuttle service’ with over flow parking at First Assembly Church will run Saturday afternoon through midnight. You still have to pay $8 dollars to park. The shuttle trip from First Assembly to the Joel Coliseum is FREE.

(Oct 08). You can register to vote at your local board of elections or at the political booths inside the Annex at the Dixie Classic Fair.

The State Board of Education is ending the requirement that students in third, fifth and eighth graders PASS the dreaded end-of-grade (or EOG) testing to be promoted…or for Seniors to graduate. The Board will work on 5 ‘broader’ standards by which schools and teachers will be judged for student performance.

The 2010 Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo (LEE-O-shall-bow). Liu is currently serving an 11-year prison term for using non-violence to demanding Democratic fundamental human rights changes in China. An airport in China was forced to shut down, to prevent passenger jets from crashing into a UFO. Three flights from Baotou, Inner Mongolia, were forced to circle the airport, until the unidentified flying object disappeared. The airport was shut down for about an hour in order to "guarantee safety." Witnesses reported a bright light shining in the sky on September 11, around two-and-a-half miles away from the airport, before suddenly vanishing. A part-time police officer has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a fellow student at Mid-Atlantic Christian University in Elizabeth City. 23-year-old Christopher David Amyx was charged late Wednesday with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Jonathan Schipper of Havelock on Sunday. A memorial service was held last night for Schipper.

14-year-old Caitlin Sanchez the most recent voice of ‘Dora the Explorer’ has filed a complaint against Nickelodeon alleging that the network hasn't properly compensated her for her work.
