Twisters hitting parts of Texas and Alabama late day on Sunday. Five homes in Rice, Texas were damaged Sunday evening. At least four people were injured.

Thousands turning out to support the Christian flag on Saturday in King. Organizers of the Rally want the Christian Flag back up at the Veterans Memorial at Central Park in King…after being removed by the King City Council last month after the threat of a lawsuit by the ACLU. The King City Council will hold a special ‘closed door’ meeting on Tuesday evening to discuss the Christian Flag issue. The North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh topped 1 million visitors this year including a single-day attendance record on Saturday. On Saturday, the fair set a single-day record of 151,647.

Stanley Tanger, the founder of the outlet mall shopping industry, died of pneumonia on Saturday. Tanger was 87. Tanger, a longtime Greensboro resident, started with a single shopping center in Burlington and built the company up to 33 outlet malls in 22 states.
The newest Tanger Outlet shopping center will open November 5th in Mebane.
Tanger is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held today (11am) at Temple Emanuel in Greensboro.

The death toll continues to rise in Haiti because of an outbreak of cholera. Health authorities say 253 people have been killed with more than 3,000 infected with the cholera bacteria. Concern has grown that the disease could spread to Port-au-Prince where hundreds of thousands of survivors of last January's earthquake live in tents. Cholera, a bacterial infection, is typically spread by contaminated water and food. The disease is treatable but without treatment, it can kill within hours.

Two months until Christmas…Officials in Winston-Salem are searching for the perfect local Christmas tree. If you have a spruce or fir tree on your property that's at least 50 feet tall, you may have the next ‘Christmas tree’ be displayed at Corpening Plaza in downtown Winston-Salem. There are incentives (beyond bragging rights) if your tree is chosen: The city will pay you for the tree. Plus, crews will cut it down and grind the stump for free. Southern Conference Women’s Soccer final: Lady Spartans of UNC-G beat ASU (1 – 0) on Saturday. They are the first Southern Conference team to win 5 consecutive regular season titles.
