FYI: Today is Statue of Liberty Day, marking the 1886 dedication of the statue, a gift from France to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

Storm damage…Residents in Stokes and Rockingham counties will likely spend part of the day cleaning up after severe storms swept through their area early last night. Damage was reported in the Jefferson Church Road area of King, where residents said several trees were knocked down and some houses were damaged at about 7:30 p.m. The storm also turned over a truck in the parking lot of a Pizza Hut just off Highway 52 in King. A Tornado warning yesterday afternoon in several Triad counties caused some anxious moments for parents of school children. In Forsyth County, students were ushered into hallways as they ducked for cover. Those students were held after school for about an hour until the warning expired. The situation for students in Guilford County wasn't nearly as hectic, as most were already out of school for an early release. Buses that were on the road were ordered to pull over and wait. (WXII)

Officials with the National Weather Service confirmed that a tornado touched down in Stokes County late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning. The tornado touched down on Mountain View Church Road as an EF-0, then hit an area along Flat Shoals Road as an EF-1 tornado. Damage was mainly to trees. (journalnow.com)

Authorities are trying to determine whether a prosthetic leg investigators have found is that of Zahra Baker the missing 10 year old girl from Hickory. The prosthetic leg was found at a home where Elisa Baker, Zahra’s stepmother, once lived. Zahra was reported missing October 9th.

Two arrests have been made in the shooting deaths of a father and his 7-year-old son last Saturday inside a home on Guerrant Street in Greensboro. Lenox Grant and Cedric Cunningham have been charged with murder. (Fox8)

Officials say an Indonesian volcano that already killed 33 people earlier this week is erupting again. Reports saying that entire villages were wiped out by a 10 foot Tsunami. Less than one week until the November 2nd mid-term Elections. Early voting continues in North Carolina through the end of the week. FYI: This election you can participate in a first for North Carolina and the country…a statewide instant runoff election. Voters will select a first, second and third choice to fill a vacant seat on the state Court of Appeals. If no candidate gets the 50-percent plus one vote needed to win the seat, election officials will then tally up voters' second and third choices to get a winner.
