RECALL: Toyota recalling some 1.5 million cars and SUVs, manufactured between 2002 and 2006, this time for possible brake and fuel system problems.

RECALL: The Murphy House, a North Carolina processing plant for barbecue meats, has issued its third recall for the year. This time, the problem is Salmonella contamination in 4,900 pounds of ready-to-eat pork barbecue products. No illnesses have yet been associated with any of the Murphy House recalls. Tyson Foods is expanding its poultry complex in Wilkesboro. According to a press release, Tyson Foods will add 165 new jobs.

A major airport in France was blocked and a huge rally has been planned in central Paris today as demonstrators continue their protest against a government proposal to raise the national retirement age from 60 to 62. Strikes have crippled transportation, affected fuel supplies…even forced Lady Gaga to cancel 2 concerts in Paris this weekend because of the chaos.

Officials with Winston-Salem State University apologizing for an e-mail that was sent by someone at the school urging students and staff to vote early AND volunteer with the local Democratic Party. To be fair…the University then sent a separate email saying that the same recipients could work for Republicans during early voting. Local GOP officials and candidates are wanting the early voting sessions that were scheduled to happen on campus next week to be discontinued. FYI: State law prohibits the use of a state employee's authority or state property to support or oppose a person or an issue in any election. Marques Farley, a sixth grader at Central Davidson Middle School, was struck by a car yesterday morning while on his way to the bus stop. The accident happened near the intersection of Wafford Road and Lothridge Lane just south of Lexington in Davidson County. Witnesses say that Farley was walking with his back toward traffic and wearing headphones at the time of the accident. Farley suffered broken bones in both of his legs. Several students from Jamestown Middle School were taken to the hospital after the school bus they were riding in…T-boned a tow truck yesterday afternoon at the intersection of Vickery Chapel Road and Guilford College Road. The tow truck may have run a red light. (Fox8)
