A math teacher at Jefferson Middle School in Winston-Salem has been suspended with pay after being accused of having inappropriate sexual relationships with at least two female students. The Winston-Salem Journal reporting that the teacher (Mark Tobin Mercer) recently exchanged about 1,000 text messages with one of the two female students with whom he is accused of sexual relations. The girl's parent discovered the text messages, setting off the chain of events that led to Mercer’s arrest on Tuesday. He was charged with a total of 29 counts of sexual offense involving the two 14-year-old students. The Pentagon is sending 1,400 more Marine combat forces to Afghanistan. Marines are now being notified and are expected to go within weeks. Late in 2010, the President mentioned that the US would begin withdrawing troops from Afghanistan in July. (Fox News)
One man died and two others were injured while working to repair a pipeline yesterday in Winston-Salem. 62 year old Herman Wilson died yesterday morning while working in a stretch of pipe between the Salem Lake Dam and Reynolds Park. A 1998 STUDY THAT LINKED CHILDHOOD VACCINES TO AUTISM IS JUST AN 'ELABORATE FRAUD'. The British Medical Journal published the scathing criticism along with an analysis of the study by journalist Brian Deer. The 1998 study was first published by the Lancet. Last year, the Lancet retracted the study. The study is believed to be responsible for a worldwide decline in the number of children receiving the M-M-R shot. The Consumer Electronics Association says it expects more than 80 new tablet computers to be launched at the show. The convention will also feature smart phones, smart TVs, and smart washing machines and refrigerators. Elizabeth Edwards did not include John Edwards in her last will and testament. The News and Observer reported that the will, signed on December 01…six days before she died, states as follows:"All of my furniture, furnishings, household goods, jewelry, china, silverware and personal effects and any automobiles owned by me at the time of my death, I give and bequeath to my children." Have you seen the video clip of the homeless man from Columbus, Ohio with the ‘smooth, silky’ radio voice? The homeless man is 53 year old Ted Williams. Williams’ story became a viral sensation on YouTube on Tuesday…reaching more than four million views in 24 hours. He was found by a Columbus reporter on the side of the road, using his incredible voice to collect money on the street. As a 14 year old kid, Ted has dreamed of being in radio…ever since a field trip to a local radio station in New York. He is professionally trained with some on-air experience in broadcasting, but drugs and alcohol got in the way of a career in radio. Williams states that he has been ‘drug and alcohol’ free for two years. Williams’ story has reached millions of people.
