Snow back in the forecast?  the National Weather Service saying that parts of the Piedmont could see light snow showers or flurries overnight into early tomorrow morning. A dusting of snow is possible for locations north of Highway 64. This latest front has limited moisture and little accumulation is expected.


Breaking News: Fox 8 reporting that officials have evacuated the courthouse in downtown Greensboro while fire crews investigate ‘smoke’ around an elevator shaft inside the building. According to Greensboro Fire Chief Mike Rogers, smoke was spotted near the elevator shaft around 8am. Rogers said they believe was likely caused by a burned out motor that drives the elevator. Officials with Ledford High School are looking for $14,000 dollars that was stolen from a coach's office over the weekend sometime between Sunday and Monday. The money came from revenues from the NewBridge Bank Christmas Classic basketball tournament played at the school last week. The ticket money was going to be split among the eight schools that participated. The Davidson County Sheriff's Department is handling the investigation. (Fox 8)

Zahra Baker's stepmother has told police the disabled 10-year-old girl died more than two weeks before her parents reported her missing. According to search warrants un-sealed Tuesday, Elisa Baker told Hickory police that Zahra died on Sept. 24. The warrant doesn't say how Zahra died. Police found Zahra's remains at various points around western North Carolina based on information given to them by her step-mother.  Elisa Baker is currently jailed on charges of obstructing justice during the investigation. No one has been charged in her death. (NCNN)


THIS YEAR YOU'LL HAVE UNTIL APRIL 18TH TO FILE TAXES. The IRS announced yesterday that this year’s tax filing deadline will be two days later than usual. That's because of Emancipation Day…a Washington, D.C. holiday that celebrates the freeing of slaves. The holiday falls, this year, on Friday, April 15th. FYI: Those who file for an extension will have until the 18th of October. (RnR)

Franklin Graham (The head of the BGEA and Samaritan's Purse) is pushing for more help in Haiti. Graham stated that "We want to do everything we can to not only help the people of Haiti, but to reach them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ." More than 200,000 Haitians were killed by the earthquake last January 12th. Most recently the country has been plagued by an outbreak of Cholera that has taken more than 2,000 lives. (RnR)



Singer Gerry Rafferty, famous for the 1970s hits "Baker Street" (solo) and "Stuck in the Middle With You," has died. A cause of death was not given. Gerry Rafferty was 63. (CNN)

A NEW STUDY SUGGESTS THAT MANY PEOPLE WHO RECEIVED DEFIBRILLATOR IMPLANTS WERE NOT GOOD CANDIDATES. The study done by Duke University researchers found that 20 percent of people who received the implant may have been at unnecessary risk. Duke researchers looked at over 111 thousands patients who had received the heartbeat regulating device…that over 25 thousand did not meet the criteria for the implant. RnR


THE NEXT COURT RULING ON CALIFORNIA'S PROPOSITION EIGHT HAS BEEN PUT ON HOLD INDEFINITELY. The decision was to come from the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Instead that federal appeals court has asked the Supreme Court of California to consider whether state or county officials have the authority to defend Proposition Eight. Proposition Eight is a voter-approved measure that would prohibit same-sex marriage by defining marriage as being between one man and one woman.
