A blast of cold air will blanket the northwest Piedmont (including the Triad) of the next couple of days. More snow likely for the Northern mountains.

Governor Easley will survey the damage done by strong storms over the weekend in Johnston and Wilson counties. Tornadoes hitting that area early Saturday morning killing 2 people.

Firefighters in Southern California are taking advantage of a break in the winds to help control a total of four wildfires that have consumed nearly 36-thousand acres. Nearly 900 homes or buildings have been damaged or destroyed. Over 26,ooo residents were ordered to evacuate the Orange County area.

SPACE SHUTTLE ENDEAVOUR HAS DOCKED WITH THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION. A major portion of the shuttle crew's mission will be to help install a module that provides extra living space at the space station. It includes a new kitchen, bathroom, sleeping quarters and water recycling system. The extra space will allow the space station to double its permanent crew size from three to six. The Endeavour crew is scheduled to return to Earth in about two weeks.
