Wake Forest University School of Medicine will receive nearly $2 million dollar grant over the next four years in a one-of-a-kind partnership with Meals on Wheels. The grant will help maintain the Medical Center’s position as a leader in geriatric medicine and medical training.

Greensboro police saying that one of two boys playing along a creek was critically injured after a van ran a stop sign. 40 year old Michael Charles Parks was traveling north on Lindell Road when he ran through a stop sign at Walker Avenue. Parks was charged with DWI. Anyone with information about the crash should call Crime Stoppers at 373-1000.

Police said that 16-year-old Joshua Lee Phillips from Cramerton (west of Charlotte) who was listening to his MP3 player didn’t hear a train approaching before he was struck and killed Monday afternoon. Cramerton is about 18 miles west of Charlotte
