On Wednesday, President Obama unveiled a $75 billion dollar plan to help some 9 million homeowners restructure or refinance their mortgages to avoid foreclosure. Guilford County Schools will start kindergarten registration on March 2. In a recent change in state law, incoming kindergarten students must turn 5 by Aug. 31. Previously, students had to turn 5 by Oct. 15. On Monday (February 23), the Guilford County school system will hold a "Kickoff to Kindergarten Parent Day" at the Greensboro Children's Museum. The free event will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday.

Principal of Mount Tabor High School Martha Land announced her retirement yesterday. "There is a point in your life where you want to close a chapter and start a new one," Land said. "I am at that point in life." Land will retire on July 1st after working in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools for nearly 38 years.

About face for Facebook? Facebook Inc has gone back to its old rules on user content after a change made weeks ago. CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Wednesday night in a post on the company's Web site that Facebook would work on having new terms in place within a few weeks but decided that going back to the previous conditions was best for now.

The new IKEA store in Charlotte is now open to the public. The doors opened just before 9 am yesterday morning with the first 100 customers in line receiving Po-ng armchair that sells for $149.
