Some lawmakers in Raleigh have introduced Senate Bill 272 “Defense of Marriage” that would let NC voters decide in November whether to amend the state constitution to define marriage as a union of one man and one woman. Forty-one state have laws defining marriage as being between one man and one woman. Thirty states have already passed constitutional amendments on traditional marriage. Voters in California voted in November to overturn a court ruling that allowed same sex marriage.Only Massachusetts and Connecticut allow same sex marriage, while Vermont, New Jersey and New Hampshire allow civil unions. www.wral.com/news/local/story/4604539/

A survey saying that one-in-four Americans have put off needed health care in the past year because of cost. In all, 53% of Americans in a recent ‘Kaiser Family Foundation poll’ finding that they or a family member living with them cut back on health care in one or more ways to save money in the past 12 months. Greensboro will be the host of the US Figure Skating Championships in 2011. General Motors reporting huge losses for the fourth quarter of 2008…posting a loss of $9.6 billion dollars. For 2008, General Motors reporting a $30 billion dollar loss. So far, General Motors and Chrysler have received nearly $17 billion dollars in federal bailout money.

A 20-year improvement plan implemented by the City leaders in Pilot Mountain doesn't include mobile homes, and that isn't sitting well with some homeowners who say they will have to buy a house or move out of town. The new regulations allow for existing mobile homes to remain
(even repaired and fixed) but they can not be replaced with a new model.
