A pedestrian out walking their dog was struck by a van and killed early this morning in Winston-Salem. The incident happened on Buchannan Street just after midnight.

An 85-year-old elementary school crossing guard at Draper Elementary School in Eden was hit and killed yesterday morning while he was directing traffic. The director of The Children's Home saying that coyotes are a major problem on their campus. George Bryan Jr literally took a mounted coyote to the city council meeting last night. The coyote was caught on the campus of The Children's Home last year. "We've caught three so far this year." Seems like the coyote problem in Winston-Salem started around five years ago.
-City council members say they are aware of the coyote issue, but the animal control department barely has enough money to handle cats and dogs.

The Davidson County Health Department is offering free radon test kits to the public for a limited time. The kits enable homeowners to test their homes for elevated levels of the gas, which is tasteless, odorless and invisible to the naked eye.

Two Triad TV stations will make the switch from analog to digital today…WXLV (ABC - 45) and WMYV (MyNetwork - 48) will go digital on Tuesday. The switch to digital will not affect you if you have cable or satellite. Across North Carolina, 13 of the 50 TV stations will make the switch on Tuesday. PRESIDENT OBAMA IS SET TO SIGN THE AMERICAN RECOVERY AND RE-INVESTMENT ACT INTO LAW TODAY. The president will be in Denver to sign the $787-billion dollar economic stimulus package into law.

General Motors and Chrysler must submit restructuring plans to Congress today before they can get another $7 billion in Bailout money.Instead of a ‘car czar’, the Obama administration has set up a task force to oversee the restructuring.

CREWS HAVE REMOVED ABOUT HALF OF THE WRECKAGE FROM THE DEADLY CRASH SITE OF CONTINENTAL FLIGHT 3407. The NTSB says it hopes to have everything cleared from the site by tomorrow. A snow storm is expected in the area.

CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER WILL BEGIN SENDING LAYOFF WARNINGS TO NEARLY 20,000 STATE WORKERS TODAY. He says the move is necessary because the state legislature has failed to approve a budget.
