Praise Report: The 2 millionth shoe has arrived at Buckner! A shipment of 60,000 Crocs were unloaded earlier in the week at the Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid and will soon be on their way to children around the world. Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina announcing the opening of its latest Goodwill Store (the Whitaker Regional Operations Center) on Peters Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem. The store is now open. It houses a regular retail store, an outlet store and a Career Connections Center that provides free career-counseling services to job-hunters.

According to AAA Carolinas auto club, more than 1 million North Carolinians are expected to travel during the upcoming Labor Day holiday. Statewide, gas prices have gone up since Memorial Day. (Average price for regular unleaded is around $2.50 a gallon).

President Obama will deliver a pre-recorded speech directly to public school students on the importance of education next Tuesday morning (Sept 8). “The president will challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning,” Education Secretary Arne Duncan wrote in an Aug. 26 letter to school principals.

The president of Focus on the Family Jim Daly is scheduled to appear on tonight’s episode of "Hannity" as part of The Great American Panel. "Hannity" airs on the Fox News Channel at 9pm eastern.

The Center City post office in downtown Winston-Salem is one of three in the Triad that are now on a list of branches that could be closed. The U.S. Postal Service said yesterday that the current list of 413 post offices and branches does not represent a final decision on consolidation. That decision is expected to be made after October 2nd.

A pit bull that chewed the toes off of a 4-month old baby in Jacksonville, North Carolina has been euthanized, while the child's mother and her boyfriend remain in custody, charged with felony child abuse. The baby is in stable condition at Pitt County Memorial Hospital after the dog chewed the toes off his left foot Sunday night. The mother told police she was on medication and didn't hear the baby crying even though she was sleeping in the same room

Bill Hefner, a former 12-term Democratic congressman from North Carolina, Southern Baptist gospel singer and radio station owner, died of a brain aneurysm Wednesday. He was 79. NASA IS WORKING TO DETERMINE IF THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION OR SHUTTLE DISCOVERY ARE IN DANGER OF BEING HIT BY A LARGE PIECE OF SPACE DEBRIS. The debris is reportedly from a European rocket launched back in 2006. NASA is tracking the space junk and will make a final decision late tonight or early tomorrow morning IF Discovery will need to make a ‘debris avoidance maneuver’.

The popular New International Version (NIV) of the Bible will be revised for the first time in 25 years. The updated version is slated for release in 2011. First published in 1978 and revised in 1984, the NIV Bible was created out of a desire to provide a faithful translation of the Scriptures that spoke the language of 20th century English.

An FDA test shows that either a frog or a toad was in a Florida man's soda can. The FDA test confirmed that the remains of an animal were in Fred Denegri's can of Diet Pepsi. Denegri popped the can open July 23 as he was grilling dinner outdoors in Ormond Beach, Florida. A Pepsi spokesman said the company is aware of the FDA testing and stands by its manufacturing process. Denegri said he is pretty certain the animal was in the can before he opened it.
