Tami and Verne just talked by phone with James Katina (one of the brothers from the group the Katinas). The Katinas still have family that live in American Samoa.
Death Toll Rising from South Pacific Tsunami
A powerful 8.0 earthquake set off a massive tsunami Tuesday afternoon in the South Pacific. Two waves of water devastated whole villages. The death toll is over 100 people and is expected to climb. American Samoa (home to 65,000 people) is located about halfway between New Zealand and Hawaii in the Pacific. http://www.voanews.com/english/2009-09-30-voa22.cfm

The Earthquake hit around 6am local time shortly after morning devotions
The earthquake triggered a Tsunami. Two ‘waves’ of water flooded portions of the island.
