President Obama providing more details of his proposed healthcare reform last night during a joint session of Congress. The President did mention the ‘public option’ saying that a government-run option would provide competition for private insurers. Funding for the program would come from eliminating wasteful spending in the current healthcare system.

An emotional outburst from one congressman during the President’s speech last night . Representative Joe Wilson (a Republican from South Carolina) shouted, "You lie!" after the President said that his healthcare reform proposal would not provide free healthcare for illegal immigrants. Wilson later apologized for the outburst.

It turns a racially charged statement printed in Yes! Weekly last month was never actually said. Editor Brian Clarey admitted yesterday that the weekly newspaper misquoted Forsyth District Attorney Tom Keith in an Aug. 26 story. http://www.myfox8.com/news/

Apple co-founder Steve Jobs made his first public appearance since undergoing liver transplant surgery. Jobs attended an Apple product launching event in San Francisco. Updates to the iPod Nano include the addition of a video camera, an FM radio tuner, a pedometer and eight gigabytes of memory. Apple is reducing the price of the iPod Touch and iPod Shuffle.

The Alliance Defense Fund has received a $9.2 million grant from a ‘very generous Christian family’. The grant has been earmarked for the ministry's Center for Academic Freedom. The Center for Academic Freedom focuses on protecting the constitutional rights of Christian students and professors at public universities.

The Space Shuttle Discovery is scheduled to land at the Kennedy Space Center between 7 and 8pm this evening. FYI: NASA says a piece of debris broke loose from the shuttle during the test-firing of primary jets last night, but it was not part of the orbiter's thermal protection. An inspection found that the nose cap and the leading edge of Discovery's wings were safe for atmosphere re-entry.
