Severe storms caused tornado warnings in Wake, Nash, and Edgecombe counties last night. A funnel cloud was spotted near Zebulon.

Hundreds of residents in Mississippi are still cleaning up (many still without power) in and around Yazoo City after a tornado hit the area on Saturday. Ten deaths have been blamed on the twister. This is Mississippi’s worst natural disaster since Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The tornado was part of a broad band of storms that stretched from Missouri to the Florida Panhandle.

If you are looking to buy a new home you have until this Friday to take advantage of tax credits for first-time and second-time buyers. First-time home buyers can receive an $8,000 dollar tax credit, and people moving into their second home receive a $6,500 dollar tax credit if they lived in their previous house for five years or more. Home buyers will need to sign a binding contract by this Friday (April 30) and then close the deal by June 30.

President Obama made the short drive to Montreat from Asheville yesterday , where he spent the weekend, to see Dr Billy Graham and son Franklin.During the visit, which lasted about 30 minutes, Obama had a private prayer and conversation with Billy Graham. The evangelist gave Obama two Bibles, one for him and one for the first lady, Graham spokesman Larry Ross said. Franklin Graham said his father and Obama did most of the talking. They reminisced about their roots in Chicago. An armed man who was spotted at the Asheville airport yesterday afternoon said that he just wanted to meet with the President. Police arrested Joseph Sean McVey, 23, of Coshocton, Ohio, yesterday afternoon at the Asheville Regional Airport shortly after Air Force One took off. McVey was charged with going ‘armed in terror of the public’…a misdemeanor.
