Taking the census door to door starting this week: Thousands of Census workers will begin visiting homes in the Piedmont Triad that did NOT return the 2010 US Census forms. Areas closest to colleges and universities will be visited first. (Greensboro News/Record)

There is currently no ‘dress code’ at GTCC but that soon could change. A 28-member task force made up of students, faculty and staff members is recommending that school leaders take a closer look at things like obscene gestures on t-shirts, saggy pants and too short shorts. All are things that even students say have become a problem at GTCC. If you are looking to buy a new home you have until Friday to take advantage of tax credits for first-time and second-time buyers. Home buyers will need to sign a binding contract by this Friday (April 30) and then close the deal by June 30. A Continental Express flight bound for Washington, D.C. was diverted to PTI airport in Greensboro yesterday morning after someone discovered the word "bomb" written on a bathroom mirror inside the plane. FBI agents interviewed everyone on board Continental Flight 3006 while a bomb squad checked out the plane. Greensboro is the most fun city in North Carolina. The business website Portfolio.com giving the nod to Greensboro are the most fun city in the state and 47th most fun in the nation. The rankings were based on the variety of businesses, including retail stores, restaurants and golf courses. BTW: Charlotte ranked 51st, followed by Raleigh at 72nd. Wind patterns could push at oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico right onto the coast of Louisiana as soon as Friday night. To compound problems, a new oil leak has been found on that exploded oil rig in the Gulf. Coast Guard officials are reporting that some 210,000 gallons of oil a day are spewing into the water.

The fierce debate over a new Arizona immigration law has spread to America's pastime… A protest has been planned for later today outside Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois, where the Arizona Diamondbacks will play the Chicago Cubs. The new Arizona law requires police to check whether a person is in the US legally…if there is a reason to suspect he or she isn't. Critics say the law could foster racial profiling.

Thelma Lou robbed at gun point? Sad but true. A Carroll County, Virginia man has been arrested for allegedly robbing the actress who played Thelma Lou on “The Andy Griffith Show”. Betty Lou Lynn, 83, whose character Thelma Lou was the girlfriend of Deputy Barney Fife on the Andy Griffith Show, said in a 2008 interview that she moved to Mount Airy the year before to get away from crime-infested Los Angeles after living there for decades. A man from Cana, Virginia, Shirley Walter Guynn, grabbed Betty Lou’s wallet from her hands at New Market Crossing Shopping Center this past Sunday afternoon and fled the scene.
The suspect Shirley Walter Guynn is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on the robbery charge on May 12.

Coming off his big win at the Masters, Phil Mickelson left yesterday’s Pro-Am at Quail Hollow after 6 holes…because of dehydration. Mickelson is expected to play today in Charlotte.
FYI: While talking to reporters at Quail Hollow in Charlotte yesterday, Phil Mickelson shared the story of how he kept his promise to his family the day after winning the Master’s in Augusta recently…he took the kids to Krispy Kreme. Phil donning his green ‘Master’s jacket’ hopped into his car and drove through a Krispy Kreme drive through in Augusta, Georgia. The moment was captured in a photo by the store manager and has hit the internet.
