The Pollen rating was still in the ‘Very High’ category on Wednesday. Yesterday’s pollen rating of 149 was the second highest level ever recorded in Forsyth County. Tuesday was the highest rating ever recorded. Today…Tree pollen is expected to remain VERY HIGH.

Breaking News Update this morning in the rescue efforts at Upper Big Branch mine in West Virginia. Several rescue crews are currently working their way to a mine chamber where it is hoped that four missing miners are holed up following an explosion on Monday. The blast killed 25 workers…4 miners are still unaccounted for. Poor air quality had prevented rescuers from entering the mine until now. The Upper Big Branch mine is about 30 miles south of Charleston, West Virginia.

The coal mine company Massey Energy was cited for violating two federal safety rules on Monday…the day of the blast. The mine has been cited for 600 violations in less than a year and a half, some of them for not properly ventilating methane -- the highly combustible gas suspected in the blast.

Dino out? Dino Gaudio, the head coach of the men's basketball team at Wake Forest, was ‘let go’ yesterday afternoon after three seasons. At a news conference yesterday, athletics director Ron Wellman called the firing a "very difficult decision" and said "the basis for the decision was our late-season and postseason performances." Wake Forest went 1-5 in the ACC and NCAA tournaments under Gaudio. Dino’s stats: 61 wins -31 losses during his three seasons as head coach. Assistant coaches had been offered the option to stay at Wake Forest until a

Forecasters are predicting that the 2010 Atlantic Hurricane Season will be above average…with 15 named storms. Eight storms becoming hurricanes. Four storms becoming major hurricanes. The Colorado State University report was released yesterday.
The Atlantic Hurricane Season runs from June to November.

President Obama and Russian President Dmitry Med-ve-dev signed a major nuclear arms control agreement earlier today in the Czech Republic. A Mideast diplomat from Qatar, who smoked a cigarette in a jetliner's bathroom sparked a bomb scare and widespread alert last night that sent jet fighters scrambling to intercept the Denver-bound flight. No explosives were found on the plane and authorities speaking on condition of anonymity said they don't think he was trying to hurt anyone and he will not be criminally charged.
