So, is it working? BP will be monitoring how effective the new containment cap that was placed on the ruptured undersea oil well is… in slowing down the largest oil spill in U.S. history. Officials say that the ‘cap’ will not completely stop the spill. The President will visit the Gulf again later today. (CNN)
How dangerous is the oil that is washing ashore? Not very, experts say.
People should of course stay away from oil on the beach or in the water, but swallowing a little oil-tainted water or getting slimed by a ‘tar ball’ is not considered grounds for a trip to the emergency room, health officials say. FYI: Oil has now washed up on the beaches of three Gulf states…Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama…and is making its way toward the Florida Panhandle. (CNN)
Exercising during college could get you better grades. It's not just the ‘image’ of a piece of steak on a fork on a new billboard in Mooresville that will catch your attention…it’s the “aroma” coming from the sign.
The billboard for Bloom, a division of Food Lion, is fashioned into the shape of a gigantic piece of steak on a fork. The first-of-its-kind billboard near Lake Norman propels the smell of ‘BBQ on a grill’ toward drivers along the highway. High powered fans will push the hickory smoke scent during drive time (morning and evening) every day through June 18th.

On Thursday, Joyce and Galarraga met at home plate Thursday afternoon as the pitcher presented the umpire with the Tigers' lineup card. Joyce shook hands with Galarraga and clapped him on the shoulder. General Motors surprised Galarraga with a 2010 Corvette convertible.
