Even though school is out for the summer, seventeen cafeterias with the Winston-Salem /Forsyth County School System is providing hot meals through their summer meal program. The program provides FREE breakfast and lunches to kids in the community under 18 years of age. Bus transportation is being provided as a gift from the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust. The meal program runs Monday through Friday throughout the summer. Meals will not be served on Monday, July 5. Lawmakers in Raleigh suggesting that ‘sweepstakes business centers’ where people buy phone or Internet time, then play games on computer screens to win cash and prizes should be made illegal. The State Senate voted 47-1 on a bill that would bar those "sweepstakes" games. The vote now moves to the House, where Democrats are divided. FYI: There are 600 "sweepstakes cafes" or "business centers" across the state. These business owners say shutting their "sweepstakes cafes" would put thousands of people out of work. (NCNN)

The top US commander in Afghanistan has been summoned to the White House to explain his comments about the President and some of the top Pentagon officials. General Stanley McChrystal publicly apologized earlier this morning for using "poor judgment" in an interview in Rolling Stone magazine. The interview titled "The Runaway General," hits news stands on Friday. (CNN)

A ‘Veterans Memorial’ has been given some ‘space’ at Triad Park in Kernersville. Property has been allocated as long as the fundraising is done by the ‘War Memorial Foundation”. The proposed $10 million dollar memorial is a joint effort by Forsyth and Guilford Counties. (Kernersville News)

One crew member's lack of a $15 dollar fishing license may have cost the ‘winner’ of the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament in North Carolina more than $900,000 dollars in prize money.

Police say crafty crooks in Richmond, Virginia are taking advantage of the trusting nature of yard sales, by using counterfeit bills. Gretchen Tracy and her husband were just trying to sell some of their things for extra money. But during a recent yard sale, she says someone gave her husband fake cash. The suspects were purchasing low priced items with fake $20 dollar bills, and getting real money back in change. Authorities are still looking for the people responsible.

SPORTS: Carolina Panthers’ receiver Steve Smith will miss the start of training camp because of a broken left forearm. Smith was playing flag football when he accidentally landed on his arm.

Longtime ACC Associate Commissioner Fred Barakat has passed away. Barakat joined the conference in 1981 and oversaw the development of the league's officials and was the manager of the ACC tournament for 16 seasons.
