Governor Bev Perdue will release her budget plan for the state today. Perdue stating that the state's share of federal stimulus money would help raise overall education spending by $350 million dollars. Some smokers all steamed up over cigarette tax increase. Tobacco shops are already raising prices in advance of a federal tax increase on cigarettes that takes effect April 1st. The White House is pursuing every legal avenue to block insurance giant AIG from paying out $165 million dollars in bonuses to its top executives. AIG saying that the bonuses and retention payments were put in place…before the company took any of the federal bailout money.

Controversial radio host Don Imus announcing yesterday that he has been diagnosed with Stage II Prostate Cancer. Imus and his wife Deidre have worked on behalf of pediatric cancer patients for years through their well-known Imus Cattle Ranch for Kids with Cancer.

SPACE SHUTTLE DISCOVERY IS SCHEDULED TO DOCK WITH THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION LATER THIS AFTERNOON. Discovery lifted off from Florida's Kennedy Space Center on Sunday.
