North Carolina missed its chance to have a Miley Cyrus movie filmed on our coast by a tax credit of between $125,000 and $225,000 dollars. If the "The Last Song," movie had come to North Carolina instead of going to Savannah, Georgia…it would have meant up to 500 summer jobs and more than $17 million in revenue.

There were two fatalities and more than 40 employees injured in an explosion at a ConAgra Foods Plant in Garner yesterday. Rescue teams are continuing their search this morning after storms in the Raleigh area halted search and rescue efforts last night. At least one person is still unaccounted for. The plant is located just south of Raleigh.

In Raleigh, the Senate has passed legislation that would ban “text messaging” while driving. The House already has approved the measure. The Texting While Driving Ban now goes to the Governor. Violators (if caught) could face a $100 fine plus court costs. Officials in Alamance and Rockingham County have confirmed new cases of the H1N1 or Swine Flu virus. The Piedmont has 7 confirmed cases of H1N1 or Swine Flu.

Two Guilford County schools have made Newsweek magazine’s annual Top 100 high schools. The Early College at Guilford is ranked No. 19, and Weaver Academy is No. 81.
Both schools are in Greensboro.

THE CLINIC THAT WAS OPERATED BY LATE-TERM ABORTION DOCTOR GEORGE TILLER WILL NOT RE-OPEN. Tiller was shot to death while attending church on May 31st. The man suspected in the murder of Dr. Tiller is in custody, awaiting trial.
