Guilford County school officials are closing Oak Ridge Elementary for the summer to try and find a solution to health problems experienced by faculty, staff and students. Earlier in the week, a group of concerned parents brought in their own expert to assess what is making students and some teachers sick. Their finding: black mold. The Guilford County Health Department also released results of a survey from those attending or working at the school. One of the findings: symptoms disappeared once they left the school.

A 3-year-old child suffered second degree burns at a Greensboro Japanese steakhouse on Monday. The accident happened at Kabuto Japanese steakhouse, off Wendover Avenue, when a chef ignited some food and hot oil spilled onto the table where the child was seated.
