Cash for Clunkers was scheduled to run until November first or until it ran out of money. But officials didn't expect it to run out of money so quickly. Congressional leaders are working to find a way to keep the program running

The US military has been accused of damaging a portion of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon while converting the ‘ruins’ into Camp Alpha shortly after the US invaded Iraq in 2003. A military official said that one of the reasons troops set up a base at the site was to safeguard it. The troops and their contractors caused "major damage" by digging, cutting, scraping and leveling while they were revamping the site to meet military standards. Babylon, about an hour's drive south of Baghdad (in Iraq), dates to ancient Mesopotamia. The city on the banks of the Euphrates River was the home of Hammurabi and later Nebuchadnezzar who built the famous gardens for his wife. The US has agreed to pay $800,000 dollars to help refurbish the Babylon site. http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/meast/07/31/iraq.babylon.damage/index.html?iref=hpmostpop
