Some areas of the Triad getting pounded by storms yesterday.Downed trees and flooding were reported across northern Forsyth County yesterday afternoon. Traffic was reduced to one lane on Highway 52 north near Akron Drive while crews worked to clear up flooding in the area.

The city of Winston-Salem will take over ownership of the new Dash baseball stadium immediately. Under the new deal approved by the Winston-Salem City Council last night, the Dash baseball team will lease the stadium from the city over the next 25 years.
Mayor Allen Joines saying that the Dash will pay all the operating costs, all the maintenance costs, and actually pay property taxes on the stadium.

Officials with Guilford County Schools are considering using the classrooms at Oak Ridge Military Academy as a temporary home for students at Oak Ridge Elementary School. Experts are still trying to determine what is making students and teachers sick at the elementary school.

ALL THE RESTROOM FACILITIES ARE AGAIN WORKING AS THEY SHOULD BE ON BOARD THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION. The station has two restrooms but it was down to only one that worked on Sunday after a pump in one of the facilities failed.

NASA celebrated the 40th anniversary of the first lunar landing with a giant moon pie. Normally, the moon pie is normally made in a hand-sized portion. NASA's oversized treat was available a slice at a time to visitors yesterday to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Cape Canaveral. The anniversary moon pie was 40 inches in diameter, six inches high and weighs 55 pounds. That includes six pounds of chocolate and 14 pounds of marshmallow. http://www.floridatoday.com
