A Southwest Airlines 737 was forced to make an emergency landing yesterday because of a ‘football sized’ hole in the fuselage. The Boeing 737 was en route from Nashville to Baltimore when the cabin lost pressure. The plane was diverted to Charleston, West Virginia. The man who ‘stole’ 37 cats from the Rockingham County Animal Shelter last week is now facing breaking and entering charges. Edwin McIrvin, who volunteers at the shelter, took the cats hours before they were scheduled to be euthanized. McIrvin later returned the cats…along with $5,000 dollars to help with adoption fees. Good news: all but 3 of the 37 cats have been adopted

Sad news: Winston-Salem police shot a bear last night on Kramer Court off Robinhood Road near Shattalon Drive. The animal was spotted about 50 feet behind a house in a wooded area. http://www.wxii12.com/news/20045493/detail.html

Bad weather forcing NASA to postpone the launch of Space Shuttle Endeavour…again. Another try is set for Wednesday at 6pm from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Details on funeral arrangements for two Piedmont soldiers killed in Afghanistan.
-On Wednesday, the body of Army Capt. Mark Garner returns to his hometown of Elkin. Beginning around noon: a processional will run along North Bridge to East Main Street…then down Memorial Park Drive to Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.The family will receive friends at Elkin First Baptist Church on Friday night at 6 p.m. His funeral is scheduled for this Saturday at 2 p.m. at the church.
-Visitation for Marine Lance Corporal Roger Hager, of Gibsonville, will be tonight from 6-8pm at Lowe Funeral Home in Burlington. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2pm.
