Tens of thousands of people expected to turn out for Michael Jackson’s memorial service. The service will be held around 1pm eastern time at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.
The cause of Jackson’s death has not yet been determined. The pop music icon passed away suddenly on June 25th. Jackson was 50.

POLICE BELIEVE THE SEARCH IS OVER FOR A SERIAL KILLER IN GAFFNEY, SOUTH CAROLINA. The Gaffney Ledger newspaper reports the suspect (Patrick Burris) was fatally wounded during an apparent ‘break in’ on Monday in Gastonia. On police officer was injured.
Authorities believe the 41-year old man was responsible for five murders in and around the town of Gaffney, South Carolina over the past two weeks.

President Obama and the President of Russia have signed agreements to reduce nuclear weapons stockpiles by up to a third. US troops and weapons will also be allowed to across Russian territory en route to Afghanistan.

Insurgent attacks across Afghanistan claimed the lives of seven U.S. troops and at least two Afghan civilians on Monday. U.S. AND AFGHAN FORCES HAVE RETURNED CONTROL OF A SOUTHERN TOWN TO THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT. Several thousand U.S. Marines and sailors, along with several hundred Afghan National Police forces, are battling the Taliban. The campaign is being called Operation Khan-jar.

Pastor and author Rick Warren was one of the speakers during the annual gathering of the Islamic Society of North America over the weekend. Warren shared his faith saying that as an evangelical pastor his deepest faith is in Jesus Christ. He added that he is committed not just to the Good News, but also to the common good. Warren is the senior pastor of Saddleback Church of Southern California.
