A person was killed early Monday morning following a hit and run accident on Highway 29 northbound near Florida Street in Greensboro. According to police, the accident happened around 3 a.m. this morning. The road is back open. A minivan going the wrong way just North of New York City leaves 8 people dead. The collision claimed the lives of five of the six people in the minivan, as well as all three people in one of the other vehicles. The woman's five-year old son was the only survivor in the minivan and he was critically injured. TODAY IS SARAH PALIN'S FIRST FULL DAY AS THE FORMER GOVERNOR OF ALASKA. Palin made a surprise announcement earlier this month that she would be resigning her post as Alaska's governor on July 26th. And she did, making a farewell speech to about five thousand people in Fairbanks on Sunday.

President Obama will make a stop in Raleigh on Wednesday. Senate Democrats are admitting that they will need GOP votes if the current healthcare proposal passes in August. Both Republicans and Democrats agree that the current healthcare system is lacking…but remain deeply divided over how to fix it.
