A section of I-73 South in Greensboro will be closed this weekend
I-73 between Wendover Avenue and I-40 (MM 103 -102) will be closed from 6am Saturday to 6am Monday. Crews will be working on the new bridge at Hornaday Road.  Detour: To access I-73 south, use I-40 east to Hwy 220 south...to I-85.  Follow the message signs along the detour.

UPDATE (at 9am) Fox News is reporting that a US chartered boat with 285 Americans aboard has just left Libya for Malta. The United Nations is holding a special session today to discuss the violent situation in Libya


Krispy Kreme plans to more than double its number of international stores over the next 5 years. Some US growth is planned in the US as well.


High Point University is buying Oak Hollow Mall for $9 million dollars. For now, there will be no changes at the mall. The University is evaluating the long-term uses for the property. (Fox 8 / News 2)


One person died in that crash on I-40 Davie County yesterday afternoon. Witnesses said the car was traveling westbound on I-40 hit the median, went airborne and crossed over into the eastbound lanes near mile marker 171. Both eastbound lanes of I-40 were shut down for several hours. (WS Journal)

3 children have died and one child missing in Kentucky. An Amish family, including six children and their mother, were traveling in a horse-drawn carriage on a flooded street in Graves County, Kentucky when the carriage flipped over last night. The mother and two of the children were able to get to a safe area. But the other four children were swept away with the carriage into a nearby creek. The search for the fourth child continues. Republicans in the Wisconsin House of Representatives passed a bill late last night to strip collective bargaining rights from most public workers. The vote ended three straight days of debate. The bill now goes to the Wisconsin Senate…but a handful of Democrats have fled to Illinois to prevent a vote. No one knows when they will return from hiding. The Governor promises lay-offs to help balance the budget. (AP)


The President dragged marriage into the national spotlight this week by declaring that the Department of Justice no longer will defend the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in court. The 1996 law defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Rep. Jim Jordan, chairman of the Republican Study Committee says “a community is only as strong as its most basic unit, the family. Marriage is a cornerstone of the family. Officials with the Guilford County School Board have decided to delay the vote on changing school start times for students next school year.  A public hearing on ‘Option Two’ will take place sometime in March.     Greensboro News / Record

The school board in Providence, Rhode Island has voted to send termination letters to all of its nearly 2,000 teachers…giving the city "maximum flexibility" to make budget cuts.  The termination notices does NOT mean that all the teachers will lose their jobs.  State law in Rhode Island requires schools to notify teachers by March 1 if they'll be laid off the following school year.   www.myfox8.com/la-na-providence-teachers-20110225,0,660932.story
