We are now feeling the effects of the unrest in the Middle East.  With oil prices briefly hitting $100 dollars a barrel yesterday (its highest point in two years), gas prices in the Triad are going up as well.  The average price for regular unleaded in the Triad is $3.17 this morning.  (Nationwide= $2.24...Statewide= $3.22)
BTW: Fox 8 reporting that at one local gas station, gas prices jumped from $3.15 to $3.25 a gallon in just 10 minutes during the Wednesday evening rush.


PRESIDENT OBAMA SAYS THE VIOLENCE AGAINST ANTI-GOVERNMENT PROTESTERS IN LIBYA IS UNACCEPTABLE AND MUST STOP. By some estimates, as many as one thousand people have lost their lives. (RnR)

A CHRISTIAN SATELLITE NETWORK IN THE MIDDLE EAST SUSPECTS LIBYA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR JAMMING ITS CHANNELS. SAT-7 says it’s Arabic and children’s broadcasts have been jammed since the anti-government protests started last Friday. The Christian Post reporting the Al Jazeera news channel also shares the same news transponder as SAT-7.

President Obama has ordered the Justice department to STOP defending the ‘Defense of Marriage Act” in two federal cases challenging traditional marriage. The Defense of Marriage Act was passed by Congress in 1996 and defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman. It was signed into law by then President Bill Clinton.


From rescue to recovery in New Zealand. The death toll from Tuesday’s earthquake is close to 100 people…with more than 200 people still missing. Several Christian relief organizations including World Vision and the Salvation Army have been on the scene offering assistance.

The final launch of Space Shuttle Discovery is set for 5pm this afternoon from Florida's Kennedy Space Center. Astronaut Steve Bowen has replaced Tim Kopra as a Mission Specialist on this flight. Kopra was knocked out of the mission after a bicycle injury. RnR

The band Third Day was featured on the CNN Travel series called Road Warriors. The segment features short interviews with people who travel a lot, asking them for their advice on how to travel smart. In the feature, Third Day lead singer Mac Powell says the guys in the band encourage each other while on the road. But he says they all understand the importance of everyone having their own space and own down time, as well.  The band says they use that downtime for prayer, Bible reading, and thinking through the day.
