THE DEATH TOLL FROM YESTERDAY’S POWERFUL EARTHQUAKE IN NEW ZEALAND HAS CLIMBED TO 75. Dozens of other people are still missing in the city of Christchurch.

Al Jazeera news is reporting that several Libyan Army officers are urging soldiers to join the anti-Gadhafi demonstrations in Libya.  The group ‘Human Rights Watch’ believes that clashes between protesters and security forces have claimed at least 300 lives.

THE US IS STRONGLY CONDEMNING THE MURDER OF FOUR AMERICAN CITIZENS BY PIRATES EARLIER THIS WEEK. The four Americans were on a yacht off the coast of Oman when pirates hijacked their vessel. The U.S. Navy had been following the yacht after it was hijacked. U.S. forces boarded the boat after they heard gunshots. The four Americans were distributing Bibles and engaging in what they called "friendship evangelism" throughout their travels. In all, 15 pirates are in custody.

The band Third Day was featured on the CNN Travel series called Road Warriors. The segment features short interviews with people who travel a lot, asking them for their advice on how to travel smart. In the feature, Third Day lead singer Mac Powell says the guys in the band encourage each other while on the road. But he says they all understand the importance of everyone having their own space and own down time, as well. The band says they use that downtime for prayer, Bible reading, and thinking through the day. Krystal Smith has ‘bagged’ her way into the record books…as the fastest grocery store bagger in the country. Krystal, who works at the Hannaford grocery store in Burlington, Vermont, earned the title at a Vegas competition and followed it up with an appearance on the "Late Show with David Letterman." She not only has bragging rights; but she’s $10,000 dollars richer.

A large home valued at more than $600,000 dollars was destroyed by fire in Davidson County last night. Nearly a dozen fire departments from Davidson and Randolph counties fought the blaze at the estate on Crousetown Road in the Silver Valley community.
