A lot of senior citizens had a happier Valentine’s Day because of you. Over 51-hundred Valentine cards were collected during the WBFJ Sweetheart Surprise. Your cards were distributed by Sr Services (the folks that do Meals-on-Wheels) in Forsyth and Guilford Counties.
Many of the trailers used to house Gulf Coast victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita contain toxic levels of formaldehyde fumes. FEMA saying that people living in the government-issued trailers should be moved out as soon as possible.
FEMA provided about 120,000 travel trailers to victims of the 2005 hurricanes Katrina and Rita. In 2006, some occupants began reporting headaches and nosebleeds. http://www.healthday.com/Article.asp?AID=612679
Classes at Northern Illinois University have been cancelled today after a deadly shooting rampage that left 6 people dead on Thursday. Police have identified a former graduate student as the person that entered a lecture hall and shot 21 people before taking his own life.
Northern Illinois University is located about 75 miles west of Chicago.
Former Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney announced yesterday that he is endorsing Senator John McCain in his bid for the White House.Romney’s 286 delegates could put McCain close to the 11-hundred, 91 delegates needed to secure the Republican nomination.
Reynolda House Museum of American Art is excited about its latest exhibit that highlights art created by contemporary self-taught African American artists. “Ancestry and Innovation: African American Art from the American Folk Art Museum” runs through April 13th. Like a scene out of Star Wars? The U.S. military will attempt to shoot down a malfunctioning spy satellite within the next few days using a missile launched from a Navy ship. The satellite is projected to come down on its own in early March, but Pentagon officials are worried about what could happen to the toxic fuel supply if the satellite crashes to Earth.
Singer Sandi Patty will perform this Sunday on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition with Ty Pennington. The show will feature a family with a blind and disabled son who has overcome multiple challenges to achieve his goals as a musician. During the demolition part of the 2-hour program, Sandi Patty will sing a song from her latest CD while some of the cast members play instruments.
