Spring Home Furnishings Market begins Saturday in High Point (April 25-30)

The Junior League’s Annual Rummage Sale going on today through Saturday at the Coliseum annex and education building in Winston-Salem.
The rummage sale will run from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. today and from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $5 today, $3 through 12:30 p.m. Saturday and $1 for the "bag sale" starting at 1 p.m., when items that fit in a bag provided by the league sell for $5 a bag. Children under 12 get in free.

Updated: Firefighters continue to battle wildfires in North Myrtle Beach in eastern Horry County. More than 23 square miles have been burned so far. An estimated 70 homes have been destroyed, and another 100 homes have been damaged. The fires could burn for days, officials said, but conditions for fighting them are expected to improve. Heavy smoke is making driving difficult in areas around Highway 90 near Highway 31…visibility down to a quarter of a mile or less in spots. The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Smoke Advisory for North Myrtle Beach til noon. www.thesunnews.com/

Chrysler could file Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as early as next week.
