UPDATE: Rescuers are looking for survivors after a powerful earthquake hit central Italy earlier today. A powerful 6.3-magnitude earthquake hitting the medieval town of L’Aquila located about 60 miles northeast of Rome. At least 40 fatalities reported so far.

The US and Japan wanting a tough response to North Korea’s firing of a ‘rocket’ on Sunday. North Korea claim that Sunday's launch was simply to place a satellite into orbit. The US is a little more suspicious…saying that North Korea used the launch to cover up a test of their long-range missile capabilities. The UN Security Council met in emergency session yesterday.

A special fund has been set up for the survivors of last week’s deadly shooting rampage in Binghamton, New York. A gunman entered the American Civic Association on Friday and fatally wounded 13 people before taking his own life. Most of the victims were immigrants taking English language classes.

Actress Farrah Fawcett remains in the hospital after returning from Germany where she was receiving experimental treatment for cancer.
The 62 year old Fawcett was diagnosed with cancer in 2006…went into remission…but the cancer came back in May 2007.

THE STATE HOUSE OF GEORGIA HAS GIVEN FINAL APPROVAL TO THE NATION'S FIRST-EVER EMBRYO ADOPTION BILL. Georgia Right to Life says the language of the bill stops short of declaring full personhood for the child. However, the bill uses new terms that acknowledge for the first time that an embryo has rights and responsibilities under Georgia law.

It took a little longer than 8 seconds for the parents of Wyatt McLaughlin to find their teenage son. The 13-year-old boy from Virginia apparently loaded his family's pickup truck with food, clothes and his dog, hitched up a trailer with two horses in tow and drove nearly 1,300 miles to Texas. Police are unsure why the boy ran away from his Jetersville-area home last Wednesday morning. Apparently, He was well-prepared. Wyatt was found about 2 p.m. Friday afternoon near a rodeo grounds near Weatherford, Texas, where he had performed several times before.

A local boy scout is getting some top honors as…one of the top-selling scouts in the nation. 13-year-old Samuel Lankford from Greensboro sold just over $15,000 dollars worth of popcorn last Fall, only four scouts in the country sold more than Lankford. Another part of the Boy Scouts’ fundraising program donated more than $6million dollars worth of popcorn to US troops serving overseas.

Also, the ‘losing’ governor must donate $100 dollars to a local food bank in the winning team's state.
