Officials at the Dixie Classic Fair are taking precautions to help prevent the spread of flu. Hand sanitizing stations have been placed at numerous locations throughout the fairgrounds.

Thousands of villagers are fleeing the likely path of Typhoon Parma…a powerful storm bearing down on the northern Philippines. The government is bracing for the possibility of a second disaster just days after Typhoon Ketsana killed more than 420 in four Southeast Asian countries including the northern Philippines.

The United Nations says thousands more may be trapped under rubble. Thousands have been left homeless. Search and rescue efforts have been hampered by heavy rains.

The unveiling of a billboard showing several ‘same-sex’ couples’ in Greensboro is turning some heads. The image on the billboard located along Battleground Avenue near Cone Blvd displays four couples and indicates how long they have been together. At the bottom of the billboard it says: "Haven't we waited long enough?" According to the Triad Equality Alliance, the purpose of the billboard is to open minds and eliminate prejudice

The International Olympic Committee meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark will decide later this morning which city will host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. Cities in the running: Chicago, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo.

New Laws that went into effect as of October 1st…
- No More Plastic Bottles in Landfills: Effective October 1, plastic bottles can not be thrown into landfills.
- Ability to freeze credit: The new law allows you to place a security freeze on credit report.
- WIC food choices: New foods like whole wheat, brown rice and tofu will be offered on WIC program.
- Novelty lighters illegal: Now illegal to sell lighters that look like toys, characters, or other objects
- Beer tastings now allowed: Retail stores can now hold beer tastings
- Foreclosure hearing delay: Homeowners could have foreclosure hearings postponed additional 60 days by Clerks of Court.
