Traffic: A rockslide in western North Carolina has closed Interstate 40
The rockslide is located at mile marker 3, near the Tennessee State Line, in Haywood County, West of Asheville. The road is expected to be closed for several weeks.
Detour: If you are traveling on I-40 West: use I-240 West, to I-26 West out of Asheville, to Johnson City, TN, then take I-81 South back to I-40.

A worker at the NC State Fair was injured yesterday while trying to break down a ride. The man fell 15 feet. The injured worker was taken to the hospital. Sunday was the last day of the State Fair.
President Obama has declared a national emergency to deal with the "rapid increase in illness" from the H1N1 influenza virus. The ‘National Emergency Declaration’ on H1N1 allows healthcare systems to quickly implement disaster plans should they become overwhelmed.

THE TEMPLE MOUNT IN JERUSALEM IS CALM TODAY, AFTER VIOLENT CLASHES AT THE SACRED SITE ON SUNDAY. The Jerusalem Post reports that nine police officers were slightly wounded and 21 Arab rioters were arrested during clashes at the Temple Mount yesterday. The Temple Mount is sacred to both Jews and Muslims.
NATO AUTHORITIES SAY TWO SEPARATE HELICOPTER CRASHES HAVE CLAIMED THE LIVES OF 14 AMERICANS IN AFGHANISTAN TODAY.
WORLD LEADERS HAVE CONDEMNED SUNDAY'S DEADLY TWIN BOMBING ATTACK IN BAGHDAD. Combined, the two blasts claimed the lives of 155 people and wounded nearly five hundred others. Sunday's bombs were detonated just outside the heavily fortified Green Zone, the location of numerous government offices. The attack was one of the largest to rock the capital city of Iraq in several years.
An 80-foot section of a cement roof cap fell to the sidewalk from a building on East Russell Ave. on Friday night in High Point. No one was injured. It's unclear why the roof cap fell.
The building at 325 East Russell Ave. is unoccupied, but the county was in the process of remodeling it for us by Guilford County Department of Social Services. Police closed Russell Ave. between Manning and Centennial streets.
