New this morning: The search continues for nine people missing after a Coast Guard plane collided with a Marine helicopter over the Pacific Ocean near Southern California last night. Debris has been found but no survivors so far.

THE GOVERNOR OF NEW YORK HAS DECLARED A STATE OF EMERGENCY OVER THE H-1-N-1 or ‘Swine Flu’ VIRUS. The move allows local government agencies greater flexibility in administering the swine flu vaccine.
Locally, students and faculty lining up at UNC-G for the H1N1 flu vaccinations. UNC-G will hold another flu clinic for students and staff Friday and Saturday...while the flu shots last.

Americans are using less water per person now than they have since the mid-1950s. Water-saving technologies and a nationwide push to conserve has helped. Nationwide, about 80% of the 410 billion gallons used each day went to produce electricity at thermoelectric power plants and to irrigate farm fields. California used about 9% of all water extracted from lakes, rivers and underground aquifers, followed by Texas, Idaho and Illinois.
