NEWS…
Two new government studies saying that about 1 in 100 children have autism disorders -- higher than a previous U.S. estimate of 1 in 150. Greater awareness, broader definitions and spotting autism in younger children may explain some of the increase. President Obama has made autism a priority for research. The results published in this month’s issue of Pediatrics.

On Sunday, Vice President Joe Biden and 6 of the 9 current Supreme Court Justices attended the traditional ‘Red Mass’ a service for the protection of the unborn. The Red Mass has been held at Washington's Saint Matthews Church on the Sunday before the start of the new Supreme Court every year since 1953. The US Supreme Court begins its new term today.

Firefighters are battling a wild fire in California. The blaze, dubbed the Sheep Fire, because it started near Sheep Canyon Road, has consumed 75-hundred acres. The fire is only 20% contained.

The Winston-Salem Forsyth County schools’ College Fair is going on today from 5-8pm in the North Main Exhibit Hall at the Benton Convention Center in down town Winston-Salem. The annual event is open to public and private school students and their parents. Call 727-2912 for more information.
